A Bit of Catching Up to Do

My goal for now is to update my blog at least once a month. I wrote in December, so here I am getting an entry in at the end of January. Yeah, goal accomplished- so far! :) Well, the rest of our December was lovely. We spent time with Rob's parents and Anabel on Christmas Eve. We played games, enjoyed some food together, and sang some Christmas songs while Rob's dad played piano for us. I read the Christmas story from the Bible; it was just an absolutely lovely evening! Then on Christmas Day we spent some time at home opening presents and enjoying a Christmas morning breakfast. Yummy! Afterward, we went to my sister Christy's house to spend Christmas with my side of the family. That was lots of fun too. We decorated cookies and did our gift exchange. Pretty fun!

This Christmas we also had the pleasure of a new visitor arriving at our home. It was an Elf on the Shelf, and his name is Eggnog. He came and did all kinds of mischievous things to amuse the kids and remind them to be on their best behavior. You see, the Elf reports to Santa about the kids' behavior every night.

Here is some of the fun that the Elf got into:

-He decided to gift wrap our toilet.
-He hung out in the Dad's stocking for a while.
-He toilet papered our Christmas tree.
-He sipped some Eggnog from the fridge
-He hung a slinky from the light in our kitchen and "bungee jumped."
-He made snow angels using sugar.
-He made friends with a few of the kids' toys.
And lots of other shenanigans as well.

We cannot wait for the elf to visit us again next year! The kids might be a bit old for him then, but we'll give it a go.
