Meet Rob Dixon. His boys Cody & Clark. Lynette his wife. Daughters Jacqui & Carissa. Dogs~ Sam & Bailey.
We are the Dixon Family. We live in the St. Louis area. We've lived here for many years. Rob, since he was 7 years old, and Lynette on & off since she was very young. She was an Army Brat, so her family moved all over the place, but always stayed in touch with St. Louis because that is where both sides of her family are from. We like St. Louis. The weather can be crazy at times, but it's a nice area. There are a lot of great things to do here with our family. We love going to the Zoo, the Science Center, the Art Museum, Cahokia Mounds, and lots of other places around town.
Rob is the youngest of 5 siblings, and Lynette grew up as the 2nd oldest of 4. After her father passed away when she was 14, though, her mom re-married a man who had 5 children. Then they had 2 together, so now she is 6th of 11. She never lived together with all of them in the house, though, because many of them were already grown when her mom & Dwight got married. It does make for fun family get togethers though, all of us with our husbands, wives, and children of our own trying to squeeze into the house at once is crazy but fun.
We have been married for 10 years. It sounds like a long time when we say it, but the time has flown by, which is a good thing. We have had our ups and downs, like everyone does, but we knew that marriage took hard work, and we've ended up much closer through the years. A little about how we met is always interesting, though. We met at Church. We belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and we met just before Lynette's father passed away. Rob & his mom came to visit with the family and bring them some goodies while her dad was really sick. That's when we first started talking. Then we asked Rob if he would start spending some time with Lynette's little brother, John, to help him through this difficult time. Rob agreed, and soon he started spending just as much time with Lynette. That's how we got together. We started holding hands underneath the Seminary table, and the rest is history.
We had Cody in 1997, got married in 1997, and then we were able to be sealed in the Temple on June 5th of 1999. It was such a great experience for us. We chose that day because Lynette's Grandparents were married on that date, and they were married for well over 50 years. They were so in love, and we hope to have a long love like they did. That was very special for us.
Rob is such an amazing person. He is fun and hillarious. He makes everyone laugh or smile, which is one of the main reasons Lynette was attracted to him. Rob is very caring too, though. He loves to do things for others. He especially loves to cook for our family. On Saturday mornings he makes breakfast for us. Two of our favorites are French toast and biscuits & gravy. Yummy! Rob works with computers, video, and sound equiptment for his job, but he also loves to build and format computers in his spare time at home. He knows how to do just about anything on the computer which really comes in handy. One of the coolest things that he does on the computer is family videos. He takes all of our digital photos and turns them into the coolest videos with music and text. They are great. Rob is also very good at fixing up things around the house, both inside and out. He has his own remodeling business on the side, and he really takes pride in his work. He loves to get the whole family involved in different projects as well. Right now the kids are helping him build a little playroom/getaway for the kids in our walk in attic. It will be so much fun for the kids to go up there and hideaway with a book or a game.
Lynette loves to be creative. She loves doing scrapbooks and making homemade cards. She makes these really fun stenciled signs, and she loves to do craft projects with the kids. She is also really into exercising. She goes to the gym at least 3 times a week, and loves to be outside, especially when the weather is nice. Lynette has always had a real love for learning too. She is currently working on her Master's degree in Counseling. She wants to do Grief Counseling when she graduates. This will allow her to help others, which is another one of her big passions, but she wants to wait until the kids are all in school to go to work. Like Rob, Lynette also likes to have fun. She loves being a mother, and she is always singing and dancing around the house with the kids.
Cody is 10 now, and he is a great kid. He plays the sax in the school band, is working on his Weeblos badge in Cub Scouts, and has been really interested in reading the Book of Mormon. We are so proud of all that Cody does. He works very hard at everything he does, and he is very helpful and caring toward others. He is the kind of person who will give up the last piece of cake for someone else. He can also be very energetic & sometimes stubborn, but he's got the biggest heart of anyone we know. We know that Cody has a great life ahead of him. Right now he wants to be a Vet when he grows up. He would be so great at this because he truly cares for animals.
Jacqui came along next. She is going to be 7 next month, and she is interested in so many things. She does dance at a local dance studio- ballet, tap, & jazz. She also takes piano lessons, and is currently a Brownie Scout. Right now we are in the Cookie Selling Seaons. Thin Mints or Samoas anyone? Jacqui does very well in school. She's a real smartie! We are extremely proud of her. We know that, like Cody, she can accomplish anything that she wants to in this life :).
Carissa made #3 for us. She is a true sweetheart, with a smile that can light up anyroom. We just lover her dimples. Carissa is becoming quite the conversationalist too. She can't wait to start preschool this coming year, and she is an amazing big sister to Clark. She truly watches out for him, and loves him with her whole heart. She even gets upset when he has to take a nap. Carissa brings so much joy to all of us. She's truly special.
Clark is our youngest. He is nearly 18 months, which means that he is almost ready to join Carissa in the Nursery at church. Seeing them go into class, hand in hand, will be too cute. Clark is easy-going and a real charmer. He is constantly attracting new admirers wherever he goes because of his smile and loveable personality. He is also a big adventurer too. He definately keeps Mom & Dad on their toes. He will literally try to climb anything. Luckily the older children help us keep a good eye on him too. Clark brings a whole new level of fun into our lives.
These are our beautiful, wonderful children. We hope to have more. We would really like to adopt children in the near future. We feel so blessed and honored to be the parents of our 4 unique, loving, amazing children, and we just know that there are more children out there who are meant to be a part of our family. We consider it a true blessing to be parents, and families are made by love, not just biology.
